...then put your cell phone down way before bedtime. seriously. Cut off Social media scrolling by 8pm. Turn off your computer and turn off the tv at least 30 min to an hour before you want to go to bed. Try to go to bed at the same time every night so your body starts to learn it's time to go to sleep. Try to wake up at the same time every morning. Your mind and body like routine.
Tips for sleeping better:
1. No tv in your bedroom
2. Use your bedroom for sleep only (no working in your bedroom or watching tv in your bedroom).
3. Decorate your bedroom for peace and quiet. You should see your bedroom as a place of rest.
4. Plug your phone in OUTSIDE of your bedroom. Do not take your phone to bed with you, people.
5. Wind down at least 30 minutes before crawling into bed: turn tv off, take a bath, read a book, talk to a friend, pray, read the bible, meditate, journal...
6. Make sure your dishes are done. Make sure your loose ends are tied up for the day so your mind can turn off.
7. Have good pillows
8. Crawl into bed, close your eyes, and concentrate your mind only on your breathing.
Let me know if you have tried any of these and if they work for you!
Mel Robbins is one of my mentors. Here is an article she wrote about sleep. She is really into researching everything and the science behind everything! If you like this article, you should really read her book "The Five Second Rule". It changed my life; it changed how I do my mornings, how I make decisions, and my confidence level!
